Stéphane Van Vliet
Originally from Arles, he spent his first 20 years in the valley of Les Baux, a land of olive oil and wine. Raised in a family circle where great wines were always honoured: since childhood he has developed a love of the fruit of the vine that will lead him from passion to vocation. During his studies in Aix-en-Provence, he always kept one foot in the hotel business, a sector in which he worked for 13 years. In 2012, he founded the Restaurant Chez Hugo in Seillans, which was awarded a Bib Gourmand at the 2018 Michelin. He then practiced a 100% Provence and 100% organic wine list and during these 7 years of service the selection of the best wines of the region could already begin... It is with this particular experience as an organic wine restaurateur / breeder that he decided to embark on this brand new project that represents Organiwine.
He grew up on the coast near Bandol in the heart of the vineyards. He spent most of his teenage years harvesting in neighbouring wineyard, nurturing his passion for wine. After graduating from the Toulon Sommelier School, he developed his sommelier skills in Bandol at the restaurant l'Île Rousse, 1 star in the Michelin guide, for several years. After a stint in Dublin, at the restaurant l'Ecrivain, also starred, which allowed him to learn more about foreign wines, he decided to go to Provence for new challenges. It is at the bend of a Domaine de Provence, during a tasting, that he meets Stéphane, and that their affinity and complementarity take shape. From this meeting was born this ambitious project, to select the best organic and natural wines from Provence and to introduce them to the world.
